Inter House Swimming Competition (2014-15)

INTER HOUSE SWIMMING COMPETITION 2014-15

The Palace school always aims at providing the wide range of opportunities in almost all the fields for learning and development. One amongst them is the Inter House Swimming competition organized to promote swimming as a sport and creating opportunities for the swimmers and coaches to achieve a competitive edge. It gave The Palace School swimmers, a learning experience and encouragement. Students of almost all the grades participated passionately.

On 23rd August, Children and teachers of all the houses gathered for their housemate participants to boost their confidence.

A total of 17 events took place viz; Free style; 25 M and 50M (boys & girls), Back Stroke (boys & girls) and Breast stroke (boys & girls). Exceptional performers who acquired  1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were given certificates and awards. Below given are the names of the winners and the positions as follows:

Inter House Rakhi Making Competition

An Inter House Rakhi making Competition was held in the school recently. Students of classes I to IX participated and made some beautiful, unique and very creative rakhis to be presented in the competition and make their house win.

The various houses decorated and presented the rakhis made by their housemates who were judged by a panel of three judges comprising of Mrs Urvashi Warman, (Principal), Ms Deepika Mathur and Ms Alpana Sanjay Agarwal. The judges appreciated the efforts of the students .

English Declamation and Debate Competition

Students of Class VII of our participated with great zeal  and enthusiasm in  the Declamation Competition held recently. They delivered the speeches of Swami Vivekananda “Sisters and Brothers of America”   and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam “Three Visions for India” .The criteria for judgment for the same were fluency, diction, memory and expression and all the participants impressed the audience with their wonderful presentation of the speeches. Athrava Sharma of VII B bagged the title of “Best Speaker”. Everybody appreciated the efforts of the participants in making the contest a great success.

Inter House Debate Competition

The Literary and Creative Skills Club at the Palace School hosted an Inter-house English Debate Competition.
The forum of discussion was- Should Cyber-bullying amongst students be punished by the schools.
Five teams of two contestants each, (representing different houses) participated in the debate (classes VI- IX).

The competition had three rounds- Presentation, Rebuttal and Judge’s questions wherein the students put an incredible show and amazed the audience and the 3 judges- Mrs. Nandini Singh, Mrs. Shalini Sachdeva and Mr. Sushant Kochar.
The rebuttal round was the highlight and the competition concluded with Mrs. Shalini Sachdeva and the Principal addressing the children on “cyber ethics” and being responsible users of the internet.
The results were declared by the Principal; and the contestants of the Maharja Sawai Jai Singh II House- Isha Kothari and Tanisha Gupta bagged the first position with their spontaneous answers.

The Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II  House stood second with the youngest participant “Aditya Kothari”, who outshined the others and was also declared as the “Best Speaker” and Arihant Mittal who spoke for the motion.

The Maharaja Sawai  Man Singh II House stood third with it’s participants Vaibhav Golani and Arsal Sheikh.

The title for the Best speaker was shared by Tanisha Gupta and Aditya Kothari.

It was a delightful and knowledgeable event that increased the students awareness on dealing with Cyber-Bullying.

Merit in National Financial Literacy Assessment Test

National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), Mumbai invited students of classes VII to X from all schools to participate in the National Financial Literacy Assessment Test (NFLAT), an online test which was conducted with the support of all the financial sector regulators in India such as RBI, SEBI, IRDA etc.

The NFLAT is one step in the direction to motivate students to learn the concepts of finance and also measure their financial awareness so as to enable them to inculcate this important life skill at an early age which will help them take sound financial decisions later in life also.

The meritorious students from our school who secured more than 50 percentile in India are as follows:

Independence Day Celebration

The mood was upbeat and the spirits were high. Exuberance was in the air with the advent of the most auspicious day for every Indian. We were all smiles and enthusiasm could express the feeling of unity and patriotism. All this and much more happened on the account of Independence Day. Guests, teachers and students gathered all together to add zeal to the celebration. The Indian flag was hoisted by the Principal Madam followed by our National Anthem. The guest of Honor was our Founder Princess Diya Kumari Ji.

The morning was interspersed with several competitions, dance performances and dramas. Inter Class patriotic Song competition of class VI was held in which VI B earned first position. Class 8 competed in Inter class Instrumental Music competition in which VIII A procured first position. The winners were selected by experienced members of jury.

There were traditional and western dance performances. Class II performed a play exhibiting the patriotic sentiments of Indians. Class I participants dramatized our freedom fighters and roared their famous slogans to awaken the feeling of patriotism in us. Most absorbing performance was by the team who entertained the audiences with the Puppet show depicting Indian culture. All Participants and winners were complemented and congratulated recognizing their true spirits. The motivating speeches by Princess Diya Kumari Ji and Principal Madam provided the perfect finish to the enthralling celebration.

INTERACTION WITH BRETT LEE

Under the Cricket Australia Program ,the students of the school got a golden opportunity to meet and interact with Brett Lee, the fast bowler of the Australian Cricket Team !!

He taught us how to bowl fast and also gave us valuable tips about cricket. He inspired us to always listen to our coach and follow our passion with full zeal !! It was a very memorable experience for all of us.
